HIKE DAY (Saturday, 9/21 7:40am): Hewlett Gulch Trail

8.6 miles round-trip (we will do 4-5 miles) and 1,174 feet elevation gain
*Likely won’t do the entire hike because it would be a bit far for people that are new to Colorado and/or hiking. At the point where the trail forks into a loop I think we will turn around to not make the hike more than 4-5 miles.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
(30-35 minutes away from St. John’s church up Poudre Canyon)

Bellvue, CO 80536
*As you are driving up the canyon, there is a small neighborhood on the right side of the road beside the river that is roughly half a mile long. The turn for Hewlett Gulch is immediately after this neighborhood also on the right side of the road, and you will first drive across a bridge over the river when you make the turn.

HIKE SCHEDULE:
Meet at St. John 23rd at 7:40am, leave at 8:00am.
Meet at trailhead by 8:40am, start hiking by 8:50am.
Plan for 3 - 3.5 hours of hiking.
Includes several brief periods of prayer throughout the hike

GEAR/SNACK LIST:
*It’s important to not bring unnecessary items. This is just a fun day hike so there’s no need to bring extra weight. There will be a basic group first aid kit and GPS w/ SOS function.
-Sunglasses
-Sunscreen
-Two water bottles (ideally 1L each, aka standard Nalgene bottle size)
-Hat
-Sneakers (hiking boots are fine if you would prefer)
-Rosary!
-Any personal medication you may need
-Snack ideas: Just enough for 3-4 snack breaks.
(Ideas: trail mix, dried fruit, beef jerky, peanut/almond butter packets (Justin’s), cheese (Babybel), and Fritos)
