Serve

Serve

Saint John Paul II wisley taught that you can only find yourself when you make a sincere gift of yourself. In serving others, we come to a deeper understanding of ourselves, while spreading joy and dignity to those in need. Because individual interests and charisms vary, students have a variety of opportunities to be of service to the elderly, unborn and impoverished within our own community, across the country and around the world.

Opportunities to Serve

If you’re looking for ways to serve others, we would love for you to join us at our service events. Once a month, there will be different opportunities to serve others in the Fort Collins community.

If you have any questions about service events, email Erika Richard at [email protected]

Serve in the Liturgy

Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion
During the Liturgy of the Eucharist, the Extraordinary
Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) assist the pastor and deacon in distributing Holy Communion. It is a blessing to serve each member of the parish family through the Eucharist. These ministers also bring the sacrament to those who are sick and homebound. In this way, those who are unable to participate in Sunday Mass. Join us at any of our trainings!

Lector
Lectors proclaim the Word of God at Mass so as to bring alive the scriptures in the hearts of the faithful gathered. Training is required and provided periodically. If you feel called to proclaim the word through the lector ministry, please contact the individual group leaders.

Usher
Ushers are the welcoming faces that provide orderly and efficient assistance during the Mass. All registered parishioners who are either a sophomore in high school or 16 years and older with an outgoing personality and a love for the Mass are welcome to join! Contact us for more information.

Altar Server
Serving at the Altar of Our Lord is an honor and a great opportunity for the youth to encounter the Mass. The Altar Server ministry is open to those who have completed the fourth grade, have received their First Holy communion, and are members of a family that is registered in our Parish. Training is required and will be provided.

Mission Trips

“The Church must step outside herself. To go where? To the outskirts of existence, whatever they may be, but she must step out. Jesus tells us: “Go into all the world! Go! Preach! Bear witness to the Gospel!” -Pope Francis

We long to heed this call from Pope Francis and send our students forth on mission. We have partnered with a few organizations that do mission trips extremely well. To learn about where it is that you can serve, please contact one of our FOCUS Missionaries.

Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus Council at Saint John XXIII is for Catholic men, 18 years of age and older, who are committed to making their community a better place, while supporting their Church. It is through these five service areas – Faith, Community, Family, Youth and Fellowship – that we truly make a difference.
